The Umyastovsky estate in ag. Zhemyslavl

The estate in the town of Zhemyslavl was inherited by the Umyastovsky family in 1805. In 1863 Jozefa Umyastovskaya decided to build a palace and park complex here. The residence was to become a miniature copy of the royal Lаzienki palace in Warsaw. On the roof of the palace, built in the classical style, there was a walking area. The interiors of the building were also the same as Lazienki. A 7-hectare park was laid out around the manor, modeled on the Warsaw residence.During the First World War a military sanatorium was located here, and when Zhemyslavl became part of Poland the authorities returned the palace to Umyastovsky. Those, in turn, transferred the residence to the Stefan Batory University of Vilnius. The palace was not damaged during the Second World War, but after it there was a post office, a club, a collective farm board. The building was severely damaged in a fire in 2012.In 2017 the architectural monument received the status of historical and cultural value.
