Ivye Museum of National Cultures
The only museum of national cultures in the Republic of Belarus is located in the city of Ivye. It was founded on June 29, 2009, opened to visitors on July 3 of the same year.
The permanent exhibition of the museum “Under a single sky through the centuries” acquaints visitors with the history, culture and religion of Belarusians, Poles, Tatars, Jews, emphasizing the possibility of peaceful coexistence of various nationalities and religions in one small territory.
The geography of museum visitors is constantly expanding: Great Britain, Morocco, Italy, Japan, USA, Israel, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Argentina, Canada, France, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine.
The exposition hall “From the history of the indigenous population of Ivyevshchina” tells about the most ancient settlements on the Ivye land, the events of the Middle Ages, about the Arian Academy, printing house, folk culture. Sparkling humor and worldly wisdom delight the characters of “Batleika” – copies of the Yelensky den of the XVIII century.
The hall “Belarusian Tatars” introduces the history of the appearance of Muslim Tatars in the Belarusian lands, the legendary mosque, which has not stopped its activity since the opening, with many amazing features and traditions of the local community.
The exposition hall “Belarusian Jews” allows you to truly plunge into the atmosphere of a Jewish town … to recreate the Jewish quarter in your imagination, to hear the familiar melody of a violin.
The hall dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War, which rallied the multinational Ivye even more in the struggle for a peaceful sky over the heads of their descendants, contains personal belongings and documents, unique photographs and manuscripts of that time …
