Костел Преображения Господнего

Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in g. Yuratishki

The first church is believed to have been built in 1532. Funds for the construction were allocated by the Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Albrecht Gashtoldam. But in 1596 the church became Uniate, as the Brest Church Union was introduced, and remained so until 1839.
Then the church was again awaited by cardinal changes, with the abolition of the Greek Catholic Church, in 1839 by Tsar Nicholas I, all churches became Orthodox. Accordingly, all believers had to change their faith. And only in 1932 the church became a church again, and the Catholic parish was returned to Juratishki. And Anatony Tvarovski, who was brutally killed at the beginning of World War II, was appointed priest.
And in 1937, the last owner of the estate of these places, Veronika Radkevich, allocated funds for the construction of a wooden church. Which was renovated in 2003, becoming the building that exists now.
After the war, the church received parishioners until 1949, and after that it was closed and converted into a House of Culture. In 1955, even more terrible changes awaited the church: by order of the regional executive committee, it was dismantled for building materials for the park of the House of Culture. The fate of the cultural center also did not work out, now it does not exist.
But the Catholic parish exists again. It was opened in 1949. Father Superior Mariusz Ilyashevich headed the parish. And in 2001, the construction of a new church began. Its dimensions are 32 by 20 meters, and inside it can fit up to 500 people. The high tower adorns the church and makes it complete. The entire church was built of light pink bricks. Parishioners can also listen to cut music in the gallery with 50 seats. The general architectural style of the building is neo-Gothic, but there are elements of Greek and Roman architecture. And behind the church there are living quarters where the priest, monks live and guests can stay.
